Hi,
I'm implementing wlan access to so our network where users have domain accounts with mostly win xp os. I cant seem to have proper configutrations. I have the following items: a) TekRadius b) windows active directory c) Repotec RP-WR5422 Wireless-N Broadband Route d) windows xp clients.
I wanted to have the clients authenticated by the active directory thru tekradius.
Any advice on the config? Thanks

Hi,
You can not use Active Directory proxy with WPA authentication in TekRADIUS. You need to have local user profiles in TekRADIUS user database in order to use WPA.

Hi,
Any advice in the kind of configuration I might use with the same given set of equipment and system. I really wanted to tap the active directory on our windows 2003 domain so that it would not be difficult to add authorized users to our wlan. Of course with a good wlan security. I thought before that TekRADIUS windows active directory feature is easily linked with windows. Thanks.

You can consider using Microsft IAS.

If I understand it right, TekRadius can't authenticate users trying connect to wlan, which uses RADIUS authentication (and WPA or WPA2), is it?

If you plan to implement PEAP for wireless authentication you have use local user database.

It's the same for all EAP methods...

Thank you.
So, what can TekRADIUS do with ActiveDirectory?

You can authenticate against Active Directory using PAP authentication method only.

So along with the PAP being the only method to use with active directory, what settings need to be set on the Users/Groups and in the Settings to make this work? Also on the laptops as well? I would assume you skip the Users section in some way because you want the user to pull from Active Directory and not from the Radius server. Hope you can point me int he right direction. Thanks.

Hi,
PAP is not a defined inner authentication method like MS-CHAP-v2 for PEAP. That means there is no way to use Active Directory proxy with wireless authentication in TekRADIUS.

Thanks for the reply. I'm assuming that if I'm wanting to use Active Directory then I'll have to use IAS or something that does support the PAP option? From what I'm getting, any user that I would want to authenticate would have to be added to TEKRadius. If that's the case and I still decide to use it, is there a way to import users and passwords from a CSV or text file? Thanks!

All your assumptions are right. You can use TRCLI.exe with a vbs script to import user accounts in a text or csv file. TRCLI.exe is the command line interface for TekRADIUS.

Thanks for all your help. For now I have IAS working, mapping all network drives, but going through all this has helped me learn a lot on Radius. Thanks for all your help!
